The Oregon County Buying Station is the only USDA graded goat and sheep market in Missouri or Arkansas. The process is very simple, you just bring your animals to us on the last Saturday of each month, unload them at our headquarter ranch show barn. The animals are sorted by grade and kind by a USDA grader, and sent onto the scale. After being weighed, the producer or seller is paid immediately. The prices being paid each month are usually posted on our web page the Friday prior to being open. There is a $4.00 or $5.00 fee per animal that is sold. We pride ourselves in treating the animals as good as we possibley can, all animals are fed and watered until they are loaded for departure.
The real advantage to marketing animals this way is simply knowing the market price prior to selling, knowing each animal will bring his market value all day long, regardless of sale time, and most importantly knowing the quality of animal you are producing so that a breeder might be able to tweak their program to best fit the highest marketable animals.
